Support us
Help keep the doors open.
The centre runs on the generosity of people who believe in what happens here — every gift, every hour volunteered, helps keep the kettle on and the doors open to the whole village.
Give online
The quickest way to give is online. Our donation page is hosted on Zeffy, a secure giving platform with no platform fees — so every penny you give reaches the centre.
Gift Aid
Add 25% to your gift — at no extra cost.
If you're a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid lets us reclaim the basic-rate tax you've already paid on your donation. That means for every £1 you give, we can claim an extra 25p from HMRC — and it costs you nothing more.
It's one of the simplest ways to make your giving go further. All you need to do is complete a short Gift Aid declaration once, and every eligible donation you make to us will be topped up automatically.
Want to add Gift Aid to your giving? Just get in touch and we'll send you a simple form to complete.
Why Gift Aid helps
- £10 becomes £12.50 — we reclaim 25% on top of your gift
- No extra cost to you — it's tax you've already paid
- One form, ongoing benefit — declare once, applies to future gifts
- Directly supports the centre — helping fund our services, Sunshine Tots, coffee mornings and community events
- Simple to arrange — just ask us for the form
Eligible if you pay UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax and have paid at least as much tax as the amount we can reclaim in the tax year. If your circumstances change, please let us know so we can update your declaration.
Volunteer
Give your time — it matters just as much.
Not everyone can give financially, and that's absolutely fine. Some of the most valuable things people offer this place are their time, their skills and their presence.
Volunteering isn't just about filling a rota. It's a way of belonging — of being part of something that blesses the village, and of finding friendship and purpose along the way.
Ways you could help
- Making tea, coffee and cake for our weekly gatherings
- Welcoming and chatting with new faces on a Sunday
- Helping run Sunshine Tots or the Children's Programme
- Setting up, tidying and keeping the building in shape
- Music, sound, projection or tech support
- Photos, social media and sharing our news
- Gardening, DIY and practical jobs around the centre
- Admin, photocopying and behind-the-scenes tasks
Whatever your skills or how much time you have — even an hour here and there — there's a place for you. Just get in touch for a no-pressure chat.
The Charfield Pantry
We collect food for the community.
At the centre we collect food to support The Charfield Pantry — a local initiative helping families and individuals in our village who need a little extra support. It's a simple, practical way we love our neighbours.
Bring non-perishable food items along to any of our services or activities, and we'll make sure they reach the Pantry.
What we're usually looking for
- Long-life milk and UHT juice
- Tinned fruit, vegetables, soups and baked beans
- Pasta, rice, cereals and porridge
- Tea, coffee, sugar and long-life spreads
- Tinned meat, fish and ready meals
- Toiletries, nappies and household basics
If you're unsure what's needed, just ask — we can point you to the Pantry's most-wanted list. Every tin and packet makes a difference to someone in our village.
The Pantry is run by The Keepers and opens Monday to Saturday, 10am–4pm, at St John's Church on Wotton Road in Wotton-under-Edge. If you live in Charfield and have no transport, The Keepers can arrange a volunteer driver — ring 07585 466418.
Why volunteer?
Because a village is stronger when people show up for each other. Because you'll meet people you'd never otherwise know. Because the centre only exists thanks to people who give a little of their time — and because there's real joy in being part of something that welcomes everyone, exactly as they are.
